I know that there are good intentions behind daylight savings time, but every year it seems like more and more of a pain in the ass to me. My dog doesn't know anything about getting "an extra hour of sleep" in the morning, so I can look forward to a couple of weeks' worth of getting up at 5:30 AM until he adjusts. (Why else would I be sitting on the couch watching CHiPs and writing at 6:30 AM on a sunday?)
Worse than the interrupted sleep patterns, though, is the fact that all of a sudden it gets dark at 5:00 instead of 6:00, and by the time the snow starts flying it starts getting dark closer to 4:30. (What complaint about daylight savings, or lack thereof, would be complete without posing the rhetorical question, "If everyone agrees more daylight = good, then why don't we just leave the clocks forward all the time?")
